Re: crane camshaft
both crane and comp make good cams for SOHC neons. what you will get out of it is directly tied to what you have done to it or what you will be doing to it. give us a little more information and i can better help you. what are your goals for the car? what mods are on it now? what do you plan on doing to it? is this a drag car? autocross? road race? street car? daily driver? automatic? manual? does it need to pass any smog requirements? are you ok with a rough/irratic idle? are you worried about gas mileage?

Re: crane camshaft
well that's a lot of questions, but here we go.
It is a '95 MTX SOHC also I put a hood scoop over the intake to "ram" fresh air into the filter and I put A heat shield over the heather. the mods are .short 3in. intake .magnaflow muffler .polyurethane engine mounts inserts. .mopar 8.5 spark plug wires basically I want it to be a street car and it would be nice not to make it 'eat' lots of gas. |

Re: crane camshaft
i would go with the comp 107-200-8. mild duration so you will have a great broad powerband. lift is good, and will give you some decent power. and the valve overlap is nice to give you some good noise and high end power, without killing mileage too bad

Re: crane camshaft
Thanks....
Also do you recomend this mod to be done after more mods or it is good with what I have? |

Re: crane camshaft
You're 95 cam is better that the other first gen neons. So going to the 08 cam, won't yield you much power. #14 cam should show you some improvements. Do that along with a longtuber header and you should see some real nice gains.

Re: crane camshaft
The #14 or #16 will make you happy. They are supposed to have higher compression and tuning gear/s, but should give you good results w/o them.

Re: crane camshaft
see, the problem is that he is stock. intake and exhaust only. i wouldnt go with somthing so big without doing some real work. i have never been a fan of 14 cams, especially in a N/A motor. the 10's are good for an auto car, but since you have a stick, i would run with the 12's. and again, if you were to go with the comps i would run the 8. the 10 would work better if you had a little more work done to the car

Re: crane camshaft
True, but I guess I think big. I would ask myself, "self, am I going to add any real HP later?" And my answer is usually yes. Almost like there would be no point to add a CAI or Mopar PCM if I am going turbo in a couple of months.

Re: crane camshaft
you are exactly right. it all depends on what is going to be his final outcome of the car. if he plans on going with a lot more power, then yes the 14's are great, otherwise i would recommend the 12's or the comps. either way, it all depends on how you plan on using the car
