Nissan Maxima goes down hard

Well I have not had a street race in some time so I was kind of caught off guard by a late model Nissan Maxima last night. Here is what happened.

I was driving home after working late and I was on a good long stretch of road when all of a sudden this really sweet looking Nissan Maxima comes roaring up on me and does a fly by at about 60 mph I was only going about 40 or so. This car was clean and except for the ridiculas tall wing was not that riced out. When he flew by me I dropped it down a gear and in no time I was neck and neck with a him and steadly pulling ahead when we both see the light up ahead and had to slow to a stop at light.

At the light he is on my right and we start to chit chat about how nice each other's cars were etc etc.... This guy was not a jerk like most import racers, even though his chioce of car for street racing was a little to be desired. I say to him not bad think you can do it from a dead stop... He said what? I said when the light turns lets see who's car is faster or something along those lines. He nods in agreement.

The light goes from red to green and I get a really good launch, those new Nitto tires really grab... I had atleast two car lengths on him, by the time I hit second I was pulling hard and by fourth gear I had him beat by atleast 5 or 6 car lengths, so I shut it down and wait for him to catch up.. He pulls along side of me gives me the thumbs up I return the gesture, then he tells me he is waiting for a turbo for his car and then he'll have something for me. We both laugh and I turn to head home at the next light.

Something like that happened to me before. I tried to race this guy in his Integra and he didn't even say anything he just picked up a turbo out of the passenger seat and held it out so I could see. I guess he was going to put it on. I just smiled shrugged my shoulders and left, who knows maybe I will get to race someday.

although the maxima is a fwd car, it launches extremely well. Sorta compariable to the gtp's. Its not uncommon for people to pull 2.0 60' times with those cars. My friends turbo maxima ran 11s trapping at about 125 mph.

its good to see some comradry between racers, its all to common now to be abused when u win a race, losing with grace is something that doesnt happen as often as it should, nice kill btw

When its someone who's not a dick about it and isnt trying to be all cool about racing its nice...its the punks who look over and try 2 taunt u or try 2 be all thug life on you that you can't really talk 2 after

and the Maxima has the VQ35 right? same one as in G35, 350Z ect (detuned a lil)...so there definately is a nice turbo set up out there, especially cause the Maxima is detuned so I assume it has a much lower compression ratio compared to the G35

Nice kill man, it is always good to race someone that isnt a dick about losing, but why does everybody always say there is a turbo on the way when they loose. Every car i have beat the guy always says he has a turbo on the way.

no way man, 350z is rated 287 bhp and the maxima is like 265? i think they use a more restrictive intake mani and exhaust.

Haha yeah I have heard that alot. Turbo my ass, to me I think their car will be running full bolt on hopes and dreams. Its awesome when someone actually puts a turbo on but don't go talking your shitty car up if its got nothing. I could give someone a whole list of shit I want on my car or intend to put on my car when I lose, but nobody would give a shit anyway haha.
