Radiator Replacement

I have a 2000 Z3 2.3. I recently had some damage in the engine that broke the Fan Shroud, the Fan, and the radiator. Has anyone done a radiator replacement themselves?

I'm trying to weigh my options. My insurance company will tow it to a non BMW car shop, who says they can do the work and it will just cost me the $500 deductible. I've talked to some local BMW "specialists" and they are telling me it will be about that much to fix, but my insurance company wont work with them, so if it's much more that $500, im screwed. I was looking at it myself and it doesn't seem like it's that difficult to do, but i've never done anything like it, so i have no idea of all the extra items i will have to buy other than the obvious radiator, fan, and shroud. My main fear is that im down in Alabama and dont really trust the local shops that dont normally deal with BMW's. It may or may not be more than i can do.

If anyone has any experience with this, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Dan
