Anyone Using K&N Air Filters?
Anyone out there using K&N air fitlers or other high performance air filters?
I'm wondering if I should be using one or not. 94 110k V6. 3.2DOHC LS 5speed manual 4WD |

Re: Anyone Using K&N Air Filters?
If you are going to get one I would suggest the drop in kind. You may see an increase in MPG on the Highway, but a small decrease around town.
There is a nice write up in the FAQ's.

...I added one to my 91 and was pleased with the results. Like the other guy said, it did lower my mileage around town a little. In the 1990 I had with the round style air cleaner that sat on the top of my v6, I used a "tornado" and it provided an AWESOME positive change. Just a thought.

Re: Anyone Using K&N Air Filters?
Yes, use K&N every vehicle I have...mainly for overall low cost (clean and reuse)....seem OK. Power improvement in Subaru turbo on dyno...no change with Isuzu. No idea why.

Re: Anyone Using K&N Air Filters?
The only ones I dont recommend are any oiled, washable or cone airfilters for 3.2/3.5 isuzu's. The stock air intake is designed such that oil and dirt carry-over screw the MAF's up in short order. An OEM replacement MAF is ~$200-300 if you cant get it cleaned.

Re: Anyone Using K&N Air Filters?
I put one in my Silverado and got an initial boost in mileage from 16.2 to around 17 around town, then I think the computer figured it out and the mileage boost has backed off in a couple weeks to about 16.5
I did find this link on filter testing in the Silverado forum. Makes me wonder if I should go back to stock. http://home.usadatanet.net/~jbplock/ISO5011/SPICER.htm BTW, my wife drives an 02 Trooper. |
