Won't come out of 4LO (2000 pushbutton)
AARGGHH!!!! I had to take my 1988 K1500 to work today, because when i was backing out of the driveway, i noticed my pushbutton 4x4 panel said 4x4 lo on my 2000 silverado. (I think my 3 yr old son may have pushed it in when i was washing the truck and he was "Helping" by watching me from the drivers seat) I have tried pressing the 2hi and 4hi buttons, and the lights flash, but then go off after a bit and the 4lo stays on. I thought i'd read something about this when first searching the forums...I know about the notoriously bad 4x4 switch panel, but if the lights are lighting up , and I don't have the service 4x4 soon light on, i was wondering if there's something obvious I can try before getting expensive....

Did you try it in Nuetral or letting it roll back and forth?

I'll try hitting the neutral position on the panel and see if that helps. Yes, i drove it back and forth in my driveway a few times to try and get it to switch to 2HI. I'm going to try it again in a bit, of course things like this always seem to happen on the way to work etc. I'll let you guys know if it works.

okay, I'm an idiot. I put the transmission in NEUTRAL and shifted out of 4LO no problem. Hey, just like the owners manual said it would. I didn't remember that when I read thru the manual the first time. I only remembered to have the vehicle moving 3mph or less. Thanks for the help!
My 1988 K1500 is a 4 speed manual transmission with a shift on the floor for 4WD, I guess I have to get used to the "electronic" way of doing things, lol. |
