Re: european travel

$700?

You sure that wasn't a quote for a return ticket? Im looking up some return tickets from Amsterdam to Madrid right now and they're coming to ~$250. What date are you looking to travel?

Re: european travel

I've had a quick look around Expedia..

One way, Ams - Mad

Mon 20th June - £156
Tue 21st June - £118
Wed 22nd June - £118
Thurs 23rd June - £118
Fri 24th June - £158
Sat 25th June - £188
26th June - £377

As you can see it really varies with the date, if you try to go on a weekday it will be a lot cheaper. The expensive tickets are Iberia direct flights. If you connect via London with BMI it will be a lot cheaper. Just keep hunting around and try to be flexible with the dates, $700 is ridiculous for such a short flight. Also try Ryanair & Easyjet, those are the two European short-haul specialists. Very cheap. Friend of mine once travelled from the UK to southern Italy for around £25, ($50).

Re: european travel

But we usually use Expedia, or we will call American Airlines directly.

Re: european travel

Take the I.C.E. Train probably even faster than a plane, actual time wise.
