Question 2000 Windstar Headlamp Question/Help Req'd

My headlamp warning light turned on, indicating my left headlamp is out. Low-beam/day-time running light doesn't work but hi-beam works. So it can't be the bulb that's faulty, can it? Since hi/low-beam uses the same bulb. Do I replace the bulb or is there something else that's wrong? I'm a total n00b with this.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks. =)

Re: 2000 Windstar Headlamp Warning light

It may use the same bulb but there are two filaments within the bulb. The low filament is probably broken (burnt out) and the hi filament is still intact.

When you purchase a new bulb (I think they are 4001 or some similar number) be careful not to touch the bulb with your fingers. this causes hot spots on the bulb due to the oils on you rfingers and can damage the bulb. I use tissue paper to hold the bulbs. Instructions for removing the lens is in the owner's manual.

They are 9007 bulbs, checked it out already. Thanks for the response - I'm aware of not touching the bulb with my fingers. Gonna go change it now... once again, thanks.

are you sure its the left side only? i had the same problem with my 96 ranger (no low beam on both sides) and it turned out to be a faulty multi switch aka turn signal switch.
