Every now and then, you can hear from inside my 1998 Continental a small motor running. It sounds like it is coming from inside the dashboard or the windshield column on the passenger seat side. It reminds me of the sound that I’ve heard in a Taurus when the power antenna is being raised or lowered.
I don’t have a visible antenna, though. It must be built into the body of the car and presumably would not need top be raised or lowered. Any idea what this sound could be? Thanks, Robert Last edited by southie4; 05-26-2005 at 04:33 PM. |

Does this sound familiar to others, especially those with 1998 Continentals?
Thanks, Robert |

yes, in my '97. I've been told it is perfectly normal;the compression adjusting itself. If you drive like I do, you'll hear it going around corners and over curbs (!!)

Over curbs and around corners?! That is not the way to drive a Continental, low, slow, and loud is the way to go.

Southie, thats exactly what it is...I also have a 98 Cont...Black/Black...nothing to worry about...if you get out of your car after driving a bit...and watch the rear, you will see it lower.
