I did it in P.E once. Favorate sport I recon, and I am good at it
.We did long distance, then at targets. I scored the most points then anyone in the class, and I missed out on the first lesson where we learnt how to do it .Used on of those leather covers for my arm, cause I was skimming my forearm on every shot, and got some nice lumps from it .Would be a good sport to take up, I recon, but I still recon Motorsport is the only sport.

Re: any archers?
recon or reck'n? lol
I was vice pres. of our school archery club, and the best shot with a compound bow. What kinda bow depends on what you wanna do. Recurves are good for hunting, when your not having to hold it forever. They're simplicity also makes for easy maintenance. Target shooting usually favors the compounds, because you can get about a 90% let-off of an 80lb pull. That's how mine was, shooting carbon fiber arrows. I had a tendency to split arrows a lot at 30 yards. I used the same bow with a shorter/stouter balancer and did great. Never saw any deer, but went walking back with several rabbits and squirrels. Have fun! |

Nope. But my dad knows a guy who hunts strictly with bow and arrow, nothing else. He also killed a guy who broke into his truck. Hit the guy in the butt, hit a major artery and he died. Chalk one up for one less worthless theif in the world.

sorry, last night i ran out of time and didn't post what i use.
i use both a compound and a recurve bow (i learned using the recurve) i shoot targets, so i mostly use the compound i aim on semi instinct, i look down the arrow shaft. (i feel that sights are cheating) i use an arm brace and a shooters glove. i shoot out the back of my house, safely, target sitting in front of a huge earth mound (about 7 feet high, 20 feet across), that way i ony have to suffer some broken arrows, which are easier to fix than an impaled person. it's great fun, but it takes time to learn. |

Re: any archers?
If I'm hitting a moving target, I go by instinct, and rarely miss. If the target is not moving, my instanct isn't all that great for some reason, so I use sights. I only own a compound, but it's in california. No clue who made it.I don't wear and arm brace, I don't wear a glove. If I'm doing targets or shooting something small, I use a finger released trigger.

Re: any archers?
i got archED once. By this little guy named cupid. Then, after getting fucked over and still having the arrow in my ass (didn't hit a major artery) therefore still feeling the effects of said arrow, kicked the shit outta that little fucker, beat him with the bow, then crammed the arrow he shot me with so far down his throat he was shitting arrow and feather for a week. Then I told him if he REALLY wanted to make me happy, which he probably wouldn't after handing him his own left testicle, he could just shoot some of the cutest chicks in the bar closest to the local college campus with a nice afrodesiac and direct them my way. Then he passed out. I guess that's really the most contact I've had with archery.

I'd have to go find my bow. But I used to shoot Easton Aluminum arrows. Went very straight. If you miss the target you MUST be careful because they will bend easily. Even taking them out of some targets you may bend them.

Re: any archers?
Quote:
Post sight (horizontal for target shooting/deer hunting; vertical for pig hunting (easier to sight/lead a moving target)). Target and deer/pig hunting (trigger release for target & deer/finger release for pig). Finger pad for finger release only; no brace, just a strap to hold the bow against the crook of thumb/forefinger (I do not grip the bow while aiming/firing). 12-inch Bowie just in case a bear happens by... Upstate NY, USA and NSW, Australia. 12-inch counter-weight, never a quiver attached to bow, spring-loaded twin-finger arrow rest (easier on the fletches). I'm so-so -- I can consistently group 5-6 arrows within a three-inch circle at 20 yards, drops to over nine-inch circle at 30 yards. I may change to a higher let-off/higher pull to improve on longer distances.
