Any idea's?..?..anybody....

I use to have Overheating problmes with my car. I find out thats it's was a blown head gasket. So i did the only thing i know, which was to buy a Used motor. I had the performace shop install it and it works great. But I have a water temp gauge in my car and it usaully reads out a steady 195 f degress. It dosen't fluctuate like i thought the water temp would. I mean the (stock)thermostat should open at 172 and fully open a 194. So you would think that the needle would move and not stay a 195. Saying that i change the (stock)thermostat and made sure that i put it in the right way. As for the fan switch i bypass so it turns on always. I got a new radiator(stock) and I flush out the motor with those flush kit's. And the water came out clean, no dirt or anything. Now get this, when I go down hill the temp starts to go down, but only to about 178 degress and, when I go uphill it looks like it's going to hit 200 f degress. Then when the road becomes flat again it gose up to about 193-195. It seems that the Theromstat is always fully open. Is this right?

well first off you didn't have to buy a whole other motor if you blew your head gasket you could have just bought a new gasket. second your thermostat is stuck you need to pull the old one off and repace it. good luck next time before you buy a motor talk to other people first.

Like mystical said, you most certainly could have bought a new gasket set and could have saved hundreds....a gasket kit is approxamately 80-125$....plus around 4-5 hours of work and you could have had thatproblem fixed....but if i was you,i would have thought about getting a better motor anyways...u bought another stock motor when u could have gone the extra grand and gotten say a b16a1 from the civic si if i am right, than u would have a really sweet motor and a quicker car...but thats just my thoughts...
