Engine Tends to overheat while idling/stopped

When I'm at a read light or in heavy traffic the engine begins to over heat. I was told (by shop teaching a year ago in HS) to put on the heating when this happens, I did that today, it did take care of it, but I DO NOT think I can do that much longer because summer is here anyways, the radiator was full, it is circulating fine, what can be the problem?

Re: Engine Tends to overheat while idling/stopped

step 1 - replace thermostat
step 2 - upgrade ECT to new brass style if you haven't already
step 3 - install fan override switch

Ok will replace the thermostat and upgrade the ECT to a brass one tonight, and if they wont work, I will try option three.

If there a guide where I can see, where the thermostat is located and the ECT? (I'm not much experienced with the engine yet, just started looking after it my self I cannot afford a mechanic for a bit)
