so i was thinking...the general trend now for better steering is putting wider and wider wheels up front(increasing traction/contact patch) well i was also wondering instead of trying all the dumb ideas like putting burgerking trays on ure rear tires, what if u put some skinny ass wheels on the rear,(wouldnt it tend to slide more) i was thinking like going to the junk yard and pulling 2 identical donuts and using them.

Re: oversteer FWD
In theory, a rear tire with significantly less grip than the front in a FWD car will get it to oversteer. The big question is why, as it will also reduce the total available grip that the car has. I'll take a car that understeers terminally that's 0.5 sec/lap faster than when the handling is neutral, because, well, it's 0.5 sec/lap faster.

Re: oversteer FWD
not for speed, for lack of grip. =) thanks i wasnt going to let the drifters alone tell me if it would work

Re: oversteer FWD
well if ur trying to drift its not a bad idea, but for any other type of racing itd probably be best to get good grip in the back to. something else to consider, no matter what surface area is contacting with the road the friction between the road and wheel will always be the same, thats basic physics. now traction and friction are two different things, so those doughnuts would slide easier but i dont think the difference will be really dramatic from your normal tires... unless ur talkin about off road or something

Re: oversteer FWD
Well I tried this setup last year for my last 2 autocross events.
215/45x16" Falken Azenis on 16x7" Rota Circuit 8s and 205/50x15" Falken Azenis on 15x7" Kosei K1s on the rear. Car handled great with just a touch of the back end rotating perfectly in a turn. Actually ran this setup at a wet autocross and was 1/10th away from a Scooby driver in his 2.5RS who has several trophies from Nationals and Tours.

Re: oversteer FWD
wouldnt that be dangerous? because you would have much control if it really does over steer?
