any tips from you "pro" street racers from launching to switching gears, and when to switch gears? in other words, from start to finish

Re: Driving properly

The opening scene of Fast and the Furious is an extremely great example of how to launch your car. Also, shifting properly is shown there too. Just watch how Spilner does it, and in no time you'll be hangin' with the best of em'.

Re: Driving properly

If you have an automatic..put it in neutral and rev it up. Then slam it into drive. If you have a clutch..do the samething. Keep it in neutral and rev it..then jam it into first. Just like in TFATF. Also, don't use your NOS too soon. Watch out for those SR20 powered honda 2000s!

So good, in fact, that he managed to shift seven whole times with a five speed transmission!

Re: Driving properly

the opening scene of the fast and the furious is not a good example of anything. seven whole times! hahaha. i think the biggest thing i would avoid is the amount of wheelspin shown in the movie. yeah maybe its cool lookin but it helps if the tires actually connect on ur launch. as far as the nuetral drops suggested earlier, um, try a little bit of a powerbrake with the car already in gear instead. it helps when it comes to not blowin ur tranny apart. dont shift too early cuz the engine revs drop outta the usable powerband. shifting too late means u revved the engine past its peak power in the rpm range. practice is really the best way to learn this cuz all cars r different. i like to shift with my foot to the floor on the gas pedal and still using the clutch. o and since the last thread was closed on us, cassiesman if u read this, u said an amg e55 sounds better than a v8. i do believe that car is a v8. but im sure u already knew that. i dont wanna start a fight. everyone has their opinion and thats cool. o yeah and dont wait for the start to put ur car into first please. if u have the clutch pressed in then its not gonna matter whether or not its in gear.

Re: Driving properly

Well, I guess I'll be helpful becuase everyone else on this forum is perfect and never ever had to ask a question. Man, it must be so cool to be smarter than God.

If you have an auto, well, not really a whole lot you can do other than just step on it, lol. Powerbreaking is good, just hold down the brake and give it a little gas then let off the brake, but dont do it to much. Dont rev it all high in neutral, then drop it into drive. Very not good. I mean, yeah, I did it from 6k countless of times in my Rav4...but thats because I had a set mission to destroy it. By all that is good and holy, if you like Toyotas, thats great, because as per my expierience, they are really indestructable. You cant kill one.

If you get a stick, and you're racing, then try to keep in the power band with your shifts. I.E., if your car makes peak power at X, dont rev it way past x for every shift. Not to sure with launching, I'm not exactly the best standard driver in the world (I'm ok once I get going, but getting going takes some work for me), but I know the idea isn't to spin your tires for a minute straight, but to get minimal spin, just enough to get a real good hook.

You can google some of the stuff you need per info, and don't worry about asking questions, becuase MOST of us are willing to help. We were all n00bs once.

best way to put. also when your car tops off at 140, go get two bottles of nawz and dont worry about messing anything up. Any motor can handle 800 shots.
No seriously, practice

Yes, we are willing to help. Although, you can do us a favor and search these questions you are asking first. That way, you aren't filling up an entire thread page with questions. And if you have so many questions, why don't you ask a series of them in one entire thread rather than one per thread.

Agreed, one thread with multiple questions is fine. 16 different threads isn't.

Please, click here if you've got any futher questions.

Re: Driving properly

i do apologize seriously. id love to help and i didnt mean anysarcasm to the person who actually asked a legitimate question. if i didnt want to help i wouldnt have replied. im not smarter than god lol. all of my sarcasm was directed at the people instructing the thread starter to neutral drop. thats idiotic. by saving someone from taking that advice and destroying their car i figured i was helping. sorry for the misunderstanding. cassiesman, even tho u typoed on the e55 thing, u do apparently know how to drive a car, which is more than a lot of the "street racers" on here can do. im not tryin to be a know-it-all. cant we all just get along?

Re: Driving properly

shift when you see Danger to Manifold and hit the NAWZ at the same time. Don't forget to quadruple clutch and no granny shifting....
