creating oversteer in FWD

so i was thinking...the general trend now for better steering is putting wider and wider wheels up front(increasing traction/contact patch) well i was also wondering instead of trying all the dumb ideas like putting burgerking trays on ure rear tires, what if u put some skinny ass wheels on the rear,(wouldnt it tend to slide more) i was thinking like going to the junk yard and pulling 2 identical donuts and using them.

actually i've tried something liek this, it wasn't quite it because it was in a video game, but eiter way it worked, well they were super grip tires up front, with dirt tires on back, and it actually acted a lot like an FR when drifting, only problem was that you couldn't go over around 60mph, so dont try that, but its got the same principles as an FR, you just aren't countersteering as much, or not at all.

really small crappy spare tires/wheels in the back and good fat sticky ones in the front. That should do it. lol

Creating oversteer in FWD? - I agree with the tires idea. Another idea would be to try to lower your weight on your front end (ligher hood, battery, bumper, ect.) and actually add some weight in your back end. A significant weight unbalance towards the rear of your car would make oversteering much easier. Another would be to raise your rear suspension - like using blocks in the springs - and maybe soften it too. That would help bring about easier oversteer.

ill look to try it out soon..im getting my car out of the shop soon and if i dont sell it first ill have to play more and drift it. it may be made fun of but i dont care its still the most fun ive ever had in a car. and theyres a nice stain in the backseat to contend that with.

only problem with that is he sounds like he wants to keep his car somewhat normal and driveable, so making the front end lightweight will be hard, plus with weight in the rear it will lose grip, but only for a small spurt most of the time.

nah nah hes got it right. when i feel like tearing it up ill just slap my donuts on the rear and have at it the rest of the time ill put my wheels on(gotta love those air wrenches). ill just have to think of ways to add weight without making a mess. hehe,stupid eclipses.....what i wouldnt give for a 240 right about now.....

I see what you mean gigglesnirt. LoL holy shit this morning I experienced some extremely wicked understeer, while on a curve facing other cars - pretty much all the air left my rear passenger side tire. I almost dumped the damn thing into the ditch there was such a sudden change in steering while actually going through the curve.

just get a bigger rear swaybar, or take off your front swaybar

ummmmm you may have to explain this one to me.
lighter rear end will step out easier.
heavier will grip better, but at the limit will create oversteer that is harder control......

maybe you are referring to the drift bible? he was talking about the mr2 as having oversteer, what he meant was at the grip limit of the rear tires the car tends to spin out easier, but that weight in the back would make it waaay harder to control. look at how he was drifting the mr2. he couldnt even get that big of an angle because of the extra rear weight. why do you think he could get waaaay more sideways with the s14 and 86 than the mr2? because they were easy to control when the rear would slip out.
