Antilock Brake light will not go off.
1992 Chevy S-10 Blazer (Tahoe LT) w/ 4x4...
... I have pulled the codes from the ECHU and have tried and tried and TRIED to reset the thing the way I was told via my Haynes Manual, but that light simply refuses to go off. It is my understanding that once you pull the codes, you're SUPPOSED to clear them out and then see if the light comes on again with more codes or to show you're clean. .. So WHY won't they clear? >_< |

Re: Antilock Brake light will not go off.
What were the codes? Have they been repair yet? Sounds like something needs to be repaired.

Re: Antilock Brake light will not go off.
64, 65, 66 --> but these no longer flash out, only
86 does. :/ [edit: .... which, upon further research, appears to indicate I need to check the light and wiring for the Antilock Brake light for a short circuit; which, of course, I have no idea how to do. ^_^; ] |

Re: Antilock Brake light will not go off.
Ok, well, go me! I replaced the PCV valve and then cleaned up the IAC real good, and when I started it up again, it kept running rough like before. On a whim, I checked the codes stored in the ECHU, and there are new ones now:
12 13 31 65 WTF? 12 & 13 list as a faulty ECU, but if that was the case, why would it show up NOW? And 31 wasn't there before, either, and I HIGHLY doubt that my right rear sensor now has a faulty connection after having not touched anything of the sort...XP |

Re: Antilock Brake light will not go off.
12 is the handshake code saying it is displaying the codes.
13 is an open circuit with the O2 sensor. As for the 31 and 65, what engine do you have, the Vin Z or the Vin W? I don't know where you are getting your code descriptions, but they are wrong.

It's the W. 8th digit in the VIN, ne? And, I apologize for being confusing. I've only had this vehicle for about a week now, and I'm not yet familiarized with all it's intricacies, though not for lack of trying. ^_^; I'm actually not sure WHY I got the 12 or 13 out of that, since it was the ECHU (antilock brake light) and not the diagnostic mode (check engine light). I got NO codes at all from the diagnostic mode. And I've gotten my codes out of the Haynes manual, from the list for the 4WAL system. I think I'm just totally confusing myself (and apparently others -_-) by having 23489234 possibilities of 'what could it be?' running through my head all at once. I just want the light to go out and my nice new truck to run well, dammit. |

Re: Antilock Brake light will not go off.
You need to jump a&h on the aldl plug to check codes. We need to know 4 wheel anti lock or {rwal } rear wheel anti lock brakes.
Code 1--11--12 says bad ecm Code 13--14--15 says bad ecm The other codes are between theses codes. There are only about 9 other codes. Theses code will flash the abs light on dash. |

My vehicle IS 4x4 but I don't know if it's RWAL or 4WAL, and the 4x4 doesn't work at this point as far as I know. |

13 is the O2 sensor open circuit.

Re: Antilock Brake light will not go off.
So I DON'T do that A&H on 2 seconds, off one second, on 2 seconds again to clear the codes? o_O
...confusing. ~_~ |

Re: Antilock Brake light will not go off.
I miss type one thing that may be throwing someone off. When I wrote bad ecm It should have been bad ecu. That refers to the control module for abs. I also assume you are getting abs codes not drivability codes from ecm. The ecu is beside brake master. If you disconnect it, the light should go out if that is what has it on. But this will stop abs from workoing but with the light on it isn't working anyway.

!!!
So my abs isn't working just because a stupid light is on? That doesn't make much sense. >_> |

Re: Antilock Brake light will not go off.
If there is a problem seen by the ABS controler it set a code, turns on the light, and system shut down. It's like how could it work properly if there is a problem with the system?
