As bad as it is, at least they acknowledge it's inspired by the McLaren F1, unlike the people who made this piece of sacrilege:

http://www.ddrmotorsport.com

...which is apparently insprired by "every GT car ever," except for the F1

I wonder why they are selling it.

And someone building an F1 replica should really have the spelling of "McLaren" right, don't you think?

I like its looks better than the ebay monstrosity. That one is hideous. If you put aside the fact that it's a McLaren knock-off, isn't this one better-looking to you? Seems like a cute little electric car to me.

Sure, the DDR concept is a nice looking car, but the DDR team is hardly responsible for the looks of it, they claim they took inspiration from countless cars and they completely dodge mentioning the F1 (they mention countless other cars that look nothing like the F1.) They also did not respond to my (polite) e-mail which asked them why they did not credit the F1 on their website. Anyway, I don't want to drag this any more OT =)

It seems likely they are trying to avoid legal action to me.

Anyone have more details on the Ebay car - Chassis? Engine? Construction? etc?

I assume you know they didn't spell it right because of legal reprocussions from McLaren? Thats why its never "Ferrari replica", its "Farrari" or Ferrar1" etc

That's one possible reason, though I don't personally think that should allow anyone to skirt the legal system.

Anyway, I blame your people for this Chris.

So Erik, due to your exuberance for collecting all sorts of F1-related kitsch (oh sorry I mean memorabilia ), you gonna place a bid on this one? I think a hundred bucks oughta secure it, in spite of the asking price.

Ebay's 4 passenger FWD econo-monster is a major embarrassment.

Re: F1 for sale on eBay!!

That is hillarious! It looks like somebody has tried to draw a 'McClaren" with their opposite hand and produced it with some Jetson inspiration.

For $200k USD (assuming here) the owner should have just bought a used, entry-level Porsche or Ferrari, or even one of the new generation Corvettes, ya know...something that's worth something when it's repossessed

This is interesting:

http://www.gt40s.com/ubbthreads/show...er=56667&page=

According to this, the builder sold it for $2500 USD, and now somebody is trying to make a ridiculous profit on it.
