Different Tamiya Supra ?
I was browsing ebay and came across this thing. The picture is of a USDM Supra whereas the normal ones are of the European version. Anyone know if this is real or photoshopped? If it's real, is it any different in mold?
I'll delete the thread if necessary ![]() Here's the regular one for comparison

Well for one thing the one pictured on the bottom comes with the parts to make a US version (don't know about decal colors), such as the LHS dash, and bumper side markers.
I didn't know there were two different models, I doubt the one on the top is a fake, note also no Japanese writing on the box. Maybe it's rare?

I bought the Supra kit when it came out, and bought another one at Hobby Lobby last year and didn't realize the boxart had been changed. The USDM boxart w/the blue lettering is what we got when the kit first came out in the '90's. The new boxart they've airbrushed out the marker lights...very poorly on the side panel, and the pic of the real car on the side panel is RHD. The kit inside is identical (both dashes). The corner marker lights for the USDM are decals in both kits. I doubt there is any difference in kit value...since Hobby Lobby routinely sells 'em for half price I'd say 9 bucks is what they're all worth

Re: Different Tamiya Supra ?
I noticed this on another Tamiya Model. I have two 180sx kits and they have different boxes. One has no Japanese writing like it was made just for the U.S.

Re: Different Tamiya Supra ?
I have Tamiya's Z32 300ZX that I bought from Hobbytown USA in mid 90's, and the box was localized (all text in English), and I remember the box was printed in Canada. So, I assume Tamiya locally packaged some of their kits at some time in the past. Today, all Tamiya kits seem to be shipped in the original Japanese box. It may not be economical to hire someone to pack their kits in North America any more.
