Newbie ? about engine swap.

Does anybody know what engine will fit in the 85 cherokee.
Right now I have a 4 banger on it's last leg I think it's got a rob bearing going out.What other engine will bolt right in to the 5 speed trans without to much hassle can I put the 4.0l in this cherokee? would I need to replace the wiring harness or how hard would it be.
Please help I am having jeep withdrawls from not driving my xj....
Any help would be great. thankx in advance.

You would be better going and finding new jeep. There are really just to many things to deal with. I wouldn't go through the trouble.

The Chevy 2.8 L was used the the 85 and is a direct swap.
My son and I are going to do a Chevy 4.3 into a 84 Cherokee soon will let you know how it works out.
