Stages

so....what do they mean when its Stage 1 or 2 or 3? Like, for turbo kits, there's stage 1 turbo kits, 2, 3, etc. or something like that, and the same goes for clutches too? isn't there like clutches stage 1, 2, 3....etc? what does that mean? oh and off topic but what does whp mean? i know hp is horsepower but w?

Re: Stages

WHP-Wheel Horse Power. HP is Horse Power at the crank (what the engine makes), WHP is the actuall amount of HP that gets put to the ground. I think its somewhere between a 15-25% deficiet, depending on cars. For example, my BMW makes 187hp, but its tested whp is about 167-170ish.

Re: Stages

Stage 3 would be much more...aggressive...than stage 1. A stage 3 turbo will make more power and be harder on an engine than a stage 1. A stage 3 clutch can handle more power then a stage 1 clutch. WHP is wheel horsepower, or the horsepower at the drive wheels...it's all that really matters when you want to know how much power your car actually has.

Re: Stages

Usually the stages in a turbo kit add boost, plus other options such as an aftercooler or intercooler. So the higher up you go in stages, the more power you will push, and the more cash you will spend.

Re: Stages

Different stages are different upgrades. For example stage 0 might be making sure your car is in best condition.

Stage 1 from their can be adding an intake and exhaust, things that won't over stress parts to failing point.

The higher you go in modifications the more components in the "stock" engine will fail.

Re: Stages

Stages, You know...like in super mario and other various video games. Be careful though! Some stages have bosses at the end! But some have mini-bosses in the middle. So be prepared!

Re: Stages

I think the "stages" rice(er) is referring to are the ones from NSFU and NSFU 2. These "stages" only exist in the gaming world.

Re: Stages

RMS makes different stages for it's vortech blower system for bmw's. Some other companies do the same thing for thier systems as well . But I'm sure his question is probably derived from the gaming world....why do we always get these rediculous kids in here.

Well if you are asking what stages in general mean, they don't mean shit. Its only a manufacturers indicator of what performance level its at. Like if some bozo says he has a stage 2 clutch, it just means that theres something better out there but something worse. It dosn't really mean shit. In my experience its just something for someone to say they have to make themself feel fast.
