airbag light on

hi all,

the light came on since i picked up car from garage who changed my heater core or matrix inside dashboard.
hv VAG code read: 589-032 , ignotor resistance too great.

looked through the forum, someone mentioed could be the small harness or spring coil near steering wheel or passenger side not being fixed properly when dash was taken off.
could anyone tell me how to look into that or put the harness/coil right?

thanks

Re: airbag light on

It could also be that they left the connector disconnected.

Re: airbag light on

I doubt they took off the steering wheel, air bag or spiral "clockspring" connector loose from each other. More likely the might have disconnected it under the column above where your knees would be while sitting. There is also a connector that goes past the heater box that goes over to the passenger's bag that you should check. The system performs a self check each time you turn on the ignition so you shouldn't have to reset anything. It's a good idea to disconnect the battery a few minutes before working on the system.

you are right,
i check the yellow connector under steering which is ok.
but another code read said:
589-032, ignitor 1 of passenger side -N 131 , value too great.

so now we know its passg side, but where is ignitor 1 ?

i opened the passg side panel and saw airbag socket under airbag clipped on securely.
where does this wire go to ? an airbag module? how to check?

thanks
