1996 Cavalier Z24 engine question.

I was under the impression that the 2.3-liter I-4 was replaced with the 2.4-liter in 1996. Is this true? Was it possible for '96 Cavalier Z24's to have the 2.3-liter?

Re: 1996 Cavalier Z24 engine question.

95 = 2.3 Quad 4
96 = 2.4 Twin Cam

Twin Cam is basically the same as a Quad 4, they changed the name for some reason.

It is true,the 2.3 was replace with the 2.4 in 1996.There is one thing not to do on a 1996 and up Quad 4.Do not turn it backwards!Turn the crankshaft bolt as you are tighting it it up.If you turn it backwards,it will bend the valves that way.

Thanks guys. I was pretty sure that I was right. But whoever posted the ad with this car was an idiot. Lots of errors!
Anyways, the car was sold for $3500 canadian. It had 197,000 kms on it which I this is a little much.
