99 Concorde Window Replaced

I've read a couple posts about windows and door switches and thought i'd post about my experience with this over the last two days.

About a week and a half ago, the front of the glass in the Drivers Door stopped wanting to go up and started jamming. After dealing with this and getting ticked, I took the panel off (about a dozen screws, including behind the speaker grille). I pulled the power window switch assy out (another couple phillips screws) so I could use it to see what was going on inside without dealing with the whole door panel in my way.

Here's the problem: There are two Y-shaped brackets with threaded studs on them to hold the window to the track. One of these (the front one) came apart. According to the local (Mt Clemens MI) Chrysler Dealer, this is a VERY common problem on these vehicles. The part from the dealer was going to be about $203.00 and he'd have one the next day if I wanted. I called around, found another bracket ($10.00) but would've had to do a lot of modifications including digging out the old broken glass from the "new"(used) bracket and then also prying the broken bracket off the otherwise good window.

I decided to call around and see who had a good door glass for the car & found one relatively cheap (compared to the dealer). I went to the yard, paid for it, then went with the guy out to the yard to actually pull it out of another 99 Concorde. All LOOKED okay, until I got the window out (already paid for) and the front bracket is starting to show signs of separation.

I took the window and headed for home, stopping at AutoZone and picking up something called JB-Weld to seal the wear on the front bracket as well as just to prohibit any wear on the back one.

I thought that it would be a lot harder to pull the pieces off the door, but being a bunch of screws made it easy....and for those that have said to pry it off, save yourself the possibility of breaking something and DONT.

So...i'm off to install the "new" window so my wife can have her car back.
