'99 Grand Caravan Sport larger tires!

I am wondering if anyone has put a larger tire on the stock 16" alloy wheels that come on 1996-2000 Caravans? I am wanting to put a 235/60 on to replace the stock 215/65's. My concern is with the width due to the minimal clearance between the inside tire edge and the front struts. The height is not a concern because it will remain almost pretty much identical. Any experience with this would be appreciated!

I have put 225/60 16's on my '00 CG with no problem.
I would think that 235/60 16's should be OK.
The stock wheel width on the Caravans are only 6.5".
I don't know how wide of tire you can put on the stock rim
and it still be stable. The Intrepid/300/Concordes use 7.0" wide rims
and would probably work better with 235's.

Just keep the diameter of the tire close to the same if you change the rim size. The site below will help you calculate.

I replaced the stock 6.5" wide (16" alloy) rims on my 97 Voyager with aftermarkets that were 7.0" wide. They mounted my existing tires (215 65 16) onto the new rims, no problem.

Hope this helps,
