OK, my factory cd player died on me so I purchased a Pioneer DEH-P4700MP. I had it installed and when they brought it out to me, they mentioned that one of my speakers may be going bad and there is a static noise coming from the speakers. The speakers worked perfectly fine until the new headunit was put in this weekend. From playing around with the setup during the weekend, I found out that it works perfectly if I don't have the rear left speaker on. By not having the rear left speaker on, I mean by changing the balance and fader to test out each speaker in my car. When it's on the rear left speaker, there is sometimes no sound and sometimes just static coming out of it while playing a cd. Has anyone experienced this problem before? If so, what was the cause of it? Is it bad wiring or is it a bad speaker that I need to replace. The installer thought it may be a bad unit so I exchanged it for the exact same model and had the same exact problem. I had another installer look at it today and he thought it was the MOSFET that was causing the static sound. So, I exchanged it for an Alpine CDE-9845 and still the same problem so I'm assuming now after three receivers it is something with the wiring or the speakers. The weird thing is, before I had them install the Alpine today, I reattached the factory unit back up to test out the speakers and they all seemed to work perfectly fine. I am really stuck on this one and any info regarding this issue or any advice to fix the problem would be greatly appreciated. I thank everyone in advance.

Its the speakers, change them!!!. The factory radio doesnt push out as much energy as the aftermarket ones, thats why there is no problem when the factory is installed. when you put the other radio, there is more watts going from the headunit to the speaker, and the speaker shorts out, or becomes static. get some new speakers and the problem will go away.

Re: Audio Problem - Static from Rear Left Speakers
I cant believe it took you 3 headunits to figure out the speaker was bad. Why didnt you plug the faulty speaker into a known good source (like the rear RIGHT speaker wires or hook it up to a home's stereo receiver). Testing the speaker first should have been common sense. How much time, money, and effort have you wasted?
