96 dode avenger es question??
I have 96 dodge avenger es (DUUHH) and just recenltly i notice when i am in idle it slowly moves toward over heating Maybe about a inch or two past the middle but when im driving it stays at the middle. I have had the radiator flushed and checked all my fluids . Could this be the begining of something worse?? ....or something simply like a dirty hose or something. I had the themostat replace about 4 yrs ago would it be time for another??? any advice would be grealty appreciated

Re: 96 dode avenger es question??
well this probably isnt it... but on my old escort the exhaust pipe fell off and when i was sitting still at idle the exhaust gas would rise up and actually hit the thermometer causing it to rise way up

Check and make sure that your fan is comming on. Just remember that when the car is moving it doesn't need the fan to move cool air over the radiator but it does at when your sitting still.

I would also suggest checking your water pump and hopefully it's not the head gasket about to go south on you. Mine gave me the same problems and then the head gasket went out. While I was doing the gasket I replaced the head on my 95 with one off a 99 Eclipes with 20000 miles on it and have not had any problems since.
