im having serious issues with my flywheel. i put a new clutch in a few months back go to driving and heard wa i thot was a lifter knocking. then my transmission didnt want to engage easily, i took off the tranny, an there was a flywheel bolt jammed into my clutch plate, so under warranty took back the clutch bought all new flywheel bolts an torqued em down to spec, got in on 2 days later bam same thing. does anybody have any idea of what maybe going on? my next option is to weld the dang things in, but then im in a load of trouble when i need to change the flywheel. would a new transmission solve this? somebody please help......lol....i sound like a newb.

Lock-tite? Maybe? your bolts could be to small(new bolts maybe) or your holes have been stripped of strecthed on the inside. Thats allI can think of at the moment besides A LOT of vibration that is causing the bolts to come loose.

thats just weird. what ft/lb are you torqueing the bolts to?

what kind of flywheel and clutch? awd or fwd? turbo?

um id have to look at the chiltons again for the ft/ lb i was going to. fwd n/a. just stock clutch and flywheel. its weird shit. it did it with the original bolts....before i bought new ones. so thats what confuses me. and i dont really wanna weld them in.

don't weld them in, whatever you do, DO NOT WELD THEM IN!!! try some loc-tite first and if that doesn't solve the problem thenn....well, then you're S.O.L from my point of view.

Medium locktite, and 90 ft lbs. The last person I saw having ths problem thought he was torquing to 110 ft lbs, but was using an inch-pound wrench.

Less than 12 ftlbs. Buy new bolts again too.

ive used locktite the last time, and it didnt stay....could i maybe get the holes where the bolts go in re-threaded? hopefully i can figure out a way to get it done. anyone else have any other suggestions? even if they seem stupid its pry better a choice then weldin the damn things in.

i don't get how you could have fucked them up that bad. something's not right in there. they shouldn't loosen up that easy.

You never asnwered the question about what you are torquing them to. And you didnt say what type of locktite.

Notice poeple how my posts include details. Like 90 ftlbs. MEDIUM lockitite. Warnings about inch pound wrenches. Recomendation to use new bolts again.

I get no details in return for my efforts. I feel like I'm at work.

lol, well I think you're either missing a piece or you're not torquing them down right. Did you tighten in the correct order in stages of torque?? I had this problem once where the flywheel came loose, I used locktite and new bolts and it fixed it.

i used the strongest locktite i could get for the store, um i torqued to 90 ft/lb, but i didnt do it in a specific order.

Well you are supposed to do it in a certain order so it settles right, that could be the root of your problem right there.

Just a star type pattern, same as wheels. There are no pieces that could be missing, its just one crank, one flywheel, and 6 or 7 bolts.

hey man i have the same problem w my supra i've replaced the flywheel studs twice id like to know if you got your problem fixed

i got them tapped once, and that failed, so i just did a small spot well on each one strong enough to hold em in, but weak enough to break with an impact wrench. may be dumb, but better then spendin an more and more money on.
