Re: Transmission????
An auto trans does not have a clutch. I'm assuming that you have an ignition problem not a trans problem. When was your last tune up?

Quote:
Flexplate in an automatic = Flywheel in a manual Torque Converter in an automatic = Clutch in a manual Now by choke do you mean the engine rpm drops or does it rise? If it rises before it will go then its transmission, but if it drops before it goes then its more likely to be ignition related (spark plugs, clogged fuel injectors, etc.).

Re: Transmission????
Check your spark plugs and ignition wires.

A tune-up is a service performed by an automotive shop, they usually change your spark plugs/wires, clean your fuel injectors, and other general maintanence that the average person can't or doesn't want to do themselves. Stuttering would make me think either your spark plugs are bad or something in the fuel delivery, which would most likely be the fuel filter, but it could possibly be the fuel pump or clogged injectors. I'd suggest going to a shop and getting a tune-up.
