Engine Swap Question...

I own a 2002 civic ex and am planning on doing an engine swap. I really don't want to have to change the drive train, but if it's neccesary then I will. Can anyone help me out... I'm not sure what engine would fit in it, and be reasonably fast.

Thanks.

Re: Engine Swap Question...

unless you're planning on swapping another d series, you'll have to swap a tranny. There's no way around it!

Re: Engine Swap Question...

that's kinda the point i was getting at. I think that turboing it would be a really good idea. Go to www.turbod16.com and check out what they have to say!!

Question

I looked for a turbo kit from edelbrock and Greddy, but I don't see any kits for a '02 ex... Am I missing something, or are there just not any kits for an 02 ex.

Re: Engine Swap Question...

Nobody is going to make a kit for the D17A2 motor. It is a VTEC-E motor like the D16Y5 (96-00 Civic HX), not normal VTEC like the D16Z6/D16Y8.

Don't let the 127 HP fool you. It's an economy VTEC.

What you can do:

If you don't care about having an older motor than your car, AND want to use you existing transmission, get a D16Z6 or D16Y8 motor. You will then enjoy all of the benefits the vast aftermarket that these motors have, including turbo kits. You'll have to wire your car for ODB1, for the best route.

Or pull out all stops, and get a K20A2. But when you price a complete turn key swap, you should be sitting down. Seriously.

Do you know anywhere I could go to see how much a k20A2 is going to cost me. I looked some information up on it, and I like it, but I can't find any place that sells motors. Thanks for your help.
