1990 Mercury Sable Request for HELP!

Hey Everyone!
We own a 1990 Mercury Sable, I need some direction - PLEASE

It was in an accident before we bought it, No idea who - what - where - when - why.. we do know that the rear quarter panel has a dent,,, ANYWAYS .. The Air bag light blinks and blinks and blinks. Is there any way to stop that? Make it go away.. I don't even know if there is a airbag.. But I do know the light blinks and blinks!!

2ndly. Hubby and I disagree, I say it should have shocks and struts he says that its struts all the way around.. Anyone know? And is it a job we can 'do' on our own? We like to think we are handy...

3rd and final... Does hayes or Chilton have a diargram of the supension system (Sway Bar - and the rear end) or is it all written. looking for a picture (diagram to save on parts)

First, a 1990 wouldn't have an airbag. So, I've no idea what that light might be for, if the light is blinking there is a trouble code stored in the computer, get a reader and see what it's for. It's possible, though I can't swear to it that you can reset that code so the light will go out. Can't exactly promise that is possible though.

Second, it's struts all the way around. And if you've done a moderate amount of auto work you can attempt it. I've done it and it's not easy for the shadetree mechanic. You need several tools that you can't do the job without. The most important is a spring compressor. Be sure you know how to operate one because springs can cause major health issues when they're on the loose. Also, if the steering is in need of repair you're opening a can of worms with this job, ball joints and tie rods that are weak can break during removal complicating things.

Third, I've noticed that haynes manual is recommended a lot ont his forum. I'm a chilton's fan myself, they're very similar, so it's a matter of presonal preference. good luck.
