Unhappy Maintenance...seems pricey!

Alright my car is over 120,000 miles so i am gonna have some things done to it and went to get an estimate....holy shit! Could buy a evoIII 16g turbo instead of all this shit.
"Timing Belt- 75
Replace: Engine Model 420A (B) (talked to him about the different engine and it fits both 4g63 and 420a)
Balancer Belt and belt- 249
replace auto tensioner- 11
tension- 85
belt- 30
water pump- 120"

he didn't even put the fuel pump on there or the rest of my belts. With labor he guessed around 725 or so.

This just seems rather expensive! Anyone else do this and tell me what you got. The labor is runnin me around 310

Re: Maintenance...seems pricey!

If you know what you're doing, replace the belts yourself. Water pump cant be too hard neither. I would try, I like experimenting.

Re: Maintenance...seems pricey!

its not too hard. Its just TIME consuming if your not good at it. Thats the thing about labor. Most certified mechs can do that rather quickly (2-4hrs with all required tools) but would rather not.

Re: Maintenance...seems pricey!

I don't have the equipment to do any of the changes...no jack for my car that is all back home. If anyone in the Denver Colorado area that would like to help that would be nice

Re: Maintenance...seems pricey!

I took my car to a mechanic and he said by the time i hit 120kmiles i should bring it in to him for the tune up. Right now the car has 112k. He said its estimated 700 for everything, but im gonna spend an extra 300 for a 14b or evoIII turbo with the tune up.
