okokok 1/8 mile times...

WTF is that all about? What's a good 1/8 mile time? Should be less than half of a good 1/4 time because accelaration is greater in 1st and 2nd... right?

And when the hell did all this 1/8 mile bullshit get popular, the only thing I can think of is that there's so many houses no-one has a 1/4 mile track, Or is that a light to light distance kind of thing?

I know I brought this up in the thread - OK, THIS I GETTING REPETITIVE - but now it's really eating me, had to make sure everyone else had a chance to hop on this one.

Yeah, i kinda replied to this in that thread aswell, but it wasn't an answer. What i think is that in the 1/8, say your time is 8.02, when you finally get the 1/4 distance, your mph will increase from the 1/8 point, thus cutting off more time in the in the 1/4, so your time wouldn't be 16.04. Somebody help me because i don't know what the fuck i'm talking aboutm, earlsfat, i apologize, because i probably made things much worse for ya.

the first 1/2 of the 1/4 mile (first 1/8th) will take longer than the second half (second 1/8th). because you are going slower in the first half. think about it, you start out at 0, by the time u get to the second 1/8th mile you are at say 60-80 mph (depending on ur car). just a rule of thumb, the 1/8th mile time is usually somewhere around 3/4 of what the 1/4 mile time is... a 10 sec 1/8th usually means about a 15 sec 1/4.

so to answer ur first question, good 1/8 mile times would be like low 8's i'm guessing, that would be somewhere around high 11 to low 12 sec 1/4

Re: okokok 1/8 mile times...

huh. I would have gueesed since the acceleration is so much greater on the first 1/8 that it'd be a shorter time than the second, but what you say makes sense.

But still, who cares? What, don't these guys have enough room ror a 1/4 track? Or is this just some oddball type race thing to see who's got a better low end car?

I fwlt dumb writing the damn post!! I think it's call bracket racing or something like that. All lot of people have been talking about the 1/8 here on AF in other forums. You think thats bad, my friend's cousin with the 97 GS-T i'm gonna race late in the summer, told us his car was a 6sec. car. I just looked at him. He later stated that he meant 0-60 in 6secs. put if you've heard this kid talk... he's one of those kid who parents get him everything and not his siblings, kid got it made, lucky bastard.

Re: okokok 1/8 mile times...

Shit 0-60 in 6 seconds? I really gotta get mine back in action and to a track.

What in the hell is a GS-T? I'm guessing it's a little 6-banger import - to run 6's (which would then translate into a 10 sec 1/4?) I'm guessing he's gotta be juicing?

He's probably gonna brag his ASS off if he wins... which is stupid... if you had the same mods as he did he wouldn't stand a chance. I hate those little cocksuckers. Just like 88rex and his little shitbox CRX. It's like saying you can run faster than a clubfooted, gimp. No shit dumbass, make the playing field even and THEN see who's got this great big set of balls... ain't so damn cool are you. PUSS!

I should fly over there for that race. Man if he beats you and you don't set him straight....

Re: okokok 1/8 mile times...

1/8 = 8.1 going 78.5 MPH
1/4 = 14.0 going 102.52 MPH

That is off an older slip of mine.

Re: okokok 1/8 mile times...

Elevation = 5860 feet. That 14.0 translates to a 12.8. And that was before cam.
