Got home, called back the vin # and asked them how much for labor cost ---said 119.00. Called NAPA machine shop and they are going to do the job for 30.00 and I am replacing the bearing for 60.00--- so for 100.00 I am getting both the labor and new bearing cheaper than what the dealer was going to charge just labor for.
What a rip off--- glad I called back.

Update-- when I went back to the dealer to pick up the axle and take it to NAPA the lady at the counter told me the mechanic wants to talk to me. He told me that the bearing was good and in that case he never changes the outer seal, just change the inner seal and O-ring. I did that and adjusted the brakes while doing the job. Took it down the road and everything seems fine. So I will keep an eye on it for a few days. Job wound up being much easier than I anticipated. With 130,000 miles on the runner it's the first thing I'v had to do other than routine maintenance. Been a very trouble free vehicle.
