Question 99-00 A/C Kit on my 1997 DX Civic?

Is this possible? I have a 1997 Civic DX and it unforunately did not come with air conditioning. Do you know if I can put a 99-00 Civic, brand new unit on my car or should I stick with an older model? Where can I purchase this kit? Please help I am dying in this hot weather.

Re: 99-00 A/C Kit on my 1997 DX Civic?

yes, you can put a new style A/C unit in the 96-98 civics. I beleive you have to buy the heater core, the control unit, and some other small things. And since you don't have a/c at all, you are gonna need all the lines, condenser, acumulator. etc...Check out the FAQ at Honda-Tech. its all there. But, with you not having A/C, your best bet would be just to buy the A/C kit from Honda. What is every one so obsession with putting the new style unit in the older civics. What is so wrong with the lever??? It doesn't matter with you, since you don't have a/c at all though, i am just saying.

Thanks for the replay. As far as the demand its because Honda no longer has a replacement system for the older civics. The latest model that is available is 99-00. All other Civic A/C kits have been discontinued.
