95 stalling problems

I have a 95 Regal with 27K. Just the other day we were stopped at a stop light and we heard a pop then the car died electical systems and all. Threw into nuetral and started right up. Same thing happened yesterday only we were slow speeds through a parking lot. Pop-dead. Started right up. I would love some feedback as to what might be causing this. Otherwise the car runs great. Thanks.

Hi,
I have the same problem as you have. My 95 Regal went dead after the "Service engine soon" light came on. Everything just shut off like you turned the key off. I put it park and it restarted right away. I only have this car for a day so I have not have time to do the research on what's going on. I hope to find something on this problem as I continue to serch the database. Please let me know if you find anything about it, and I'll do the same?. thanks. Andy

Re: 95 stalling problems

Check your battery cables for corrosion and tightness. The side post mount is famous for this kind of problem.

Hi,
I took it to the shop and they said that it is the tps at fault and that I need to change the tps and also decarbonizing the engine at the tune of $496 + tax. How easy is it to change the tps and decarbonizing the engine?. I am thinking about doing this my self. PLease let me know a source of information to do this?. thanks for all your help. Andy

Re: 95 stalling problems

Tell them to take their $496 and stuff it in a very dark place. The tps can be replaced easily, although you will need a digital volt meter and a repair manual to make sure it is set correctly. As for decarboning the engine a couple cans of throttle body cleaner and a couple of hours to remove and clean the throttle body, iac motor and other passageways is all it takes. Total cost with tps less than $200.

PS. You may want to search the forum both in Buick and Pontiac for references to tps replacement. This should give you additional information.
