I have a 1994 Camaro V6. I am wanting to know if anyone has succesfully switched out the stock 3.4LV6 with a V8 be it an LT1,Ls1,or 4 bolt main 350. If so are there any modifications to be on the look-out for such as ....will the rear-end work?, gears, driveshaft, etc.? If this is not possible how much horsepower could one tweak out of a V6? My car has 188,000 original miles on it....is it worth trying to build up? thnx for any and all feedback.

Re: V6 Upgrade to V8?
Well big question is: what kind of hp do you want and how much money do you have to spend?

Re: V6 Upgrade to V8?
Someone should have the complete list, but I know it has been discussed a little here and a lot on camarov6.com. What you would need is: engine/k-member, transmission, a rear that can handle it, and suspension upgrades. Also all engine accessories, PCM and wiring harness, gauge cluster... and I believe that's everything, the short version. It has been done quite a few times, but it's not the easiest swap. And if you do it, go with at least an LT1.

Well as far as your comment goes Xeno...I dont really have an idea of how much money to spend lol whatever it takes in my book, I mean we are talkin about our babies here right?lol All I know is my car isn't going anywhere but I would like to have some more power to play with...What mods(if any) did you guys have in mind for upgrading the V6? Which upgrades would make the most improvement? And as far as your comment, 97CamaroRS, does'nt the V6 and the Z-28's have the same tranny in them? I may be wrong. Also why do you say go with the LT1? All in all it may be best for me to stick with the V6 I'm guessing but I still want to add some punch to it..I would LOVE to make it shall we say ...a "sleeper" lol I would love nothing greater than to pull up beside a stock 4.6 and blow him off the road. Thanks for your feedback guys.

Re: V6 Upgrade to V8?
to get pics in your post, youll need to get a digital picture on your computer, no larger than 80k, then go to the gallery section of the website, click on the upload button and then browse. then select the picture and upload it into your member gallery.
Now go to the user control panel, and select "sig", there will be a text box like the one used to post responces. paste the web address of your image in the gallery into your sig, and click save signature. in response to the V6 to V8 swap. You are lookin at a very in depth project best left to those wth alot of experience and knowledge of the vehicle systems involved. Hopping up the V6 is a much better alternative in your case. Im not really up to speed on V6 mods, but try looking up RKsport and other parts suppliers such as them.

Re: V6 Upgrade to V8?
RKSport sucks!!!
The bellhousings on the trannys have different bolt patterns for V6 and V8. When you look at everything all together it makes more sense to get an LT1 or LS1 than a 350 from a 3rd gen or something like that. In terms of beefing up your 6, you have a lot less options than the 3.8 owners cuz the 3.4's dont have as much of a market, but whats your budget?
