Temperature Sensor
Did a search on this with no luck.
'92 Jimmy with 4.2L engine. The truck had an episode of sudden coolant loss today with a spike in engine temp. The truck was turned off quickly and seems to have suffered no ill effects accept for the temp switch and temp sensor. After I replaced the coolant the service engine soon light was on and stayed on. I replaced the temperature switch with no problem. I need to replace my temperature sensor. The guy at the parts store said the temp sensor was probably why the "service engine soon" light is staying on. Can someone tell me where the temp sensor is located and give me some tips on getting the old one off and the new one on. Thanks in advance for any help you all can give me. Charlie M. Dallas |

Re: Temperature Sensor
You need to go to autozone and get the exact code pulled. Doubt it's your temp sensor

Re: Temperature Sensor
rlith, you were right. The SES light was caused by damaged knock sensors. I should get the Jimmy back today. The shop said everything else looks O.K. By the way I got the coolant sensor on even though that was not the problem. Oh well.
