Question Wont Start

I have a 1985 blazer s10. the engine wont turn over just keep cranking. i have replaced the battery, ignition switch, coal, wires, spark plugs, cap, rotor, the little relay thing inside the dist. cap, the whole steering column. im still receiving no spark. it was running fine till the ignition switch went. that was replaced along with a new column. i went to start is and it started right up. i then shut it off and connected the shifter. every since i connected to shifter it wont start. also once the ignition switch was fixed the caberator flap light has been on (on the dash). the carb is getting gas, i have tried starter fluid. i have tried starting it in nuteral and still nothing. Has anyone had this problem? or is there anyone who has any idea what this could be. If so please explain i have been working on this truck for 3 days in the rain please some one help me. thank you and have a great day!!!!!!!!!

Re: Wont Start

check your fuses. see if youre getting spark at coil. maybe while fixing the shifter, you hit some wiring, check into it.

Re: Wont Start

It might sound too easy, but make sure that all the electrical is dry, especially inside the distributer.

You can also run a jumper from the + side if the battery to the + side of the coil and if you have spark then (it should run if you try) you'll know that it's before the coil. If it doesn't run it's after the coil

Re: Re: Wont Start

Have you checked to make sure you properly placed the ignition switch selector rod. This is a little rod that runs from the key switch to the electrical ignitiuon switch alongside the column.
