Humming... removed Tcc

Recently i took off my tcc cause i would get the car to knock at 40-45 mph. so that seems okay. the problem is now i seem to hear a humming that sounds like its coming from underneath the car. the noise is consistent with the speed that i am going( faster i go the faster the hum, slower and the sound lowers. could this be a noisy tire issue? i just dont have a clue. a trans problem? the car accelearates fine when out of gear seems to have lost something with the tcc disconeccted. also i hear both sides of the coin about replaceing the tcc, and some say dont worry about it. anyone have any ideas?

Re: Humming... removed Tcc

I hope you mean you removed the sensor on top of the tranny and not the actual TCC Solenoid. If you removed the solenoid and just left it empty you need to be shot.

Oh yeah...the TCC Doesn't cause a knock at 45 mph at all. You got other problems, buddy. You'll only feel the car buck when you come down from highway speeds to around 20 mph or so. If you're getting the kick at 45, you need to look elsewhere for that problem.

Just stop being so damned lazy, its about $40-$50 to fix the TCC Solenoid and will save you plenty of gas if you spend time at highway speeds (above 50 or so).

As far as the humming, have your tires checked out and make sure you're okay on tranny fluid. When I say "okay" I mean make sure it's still red and that you've changed the filter and fluid completely if you've pushed 100,000 miles.

Sounds to me like you need to check wheel alignment. One of your front wheels may be riding the outer/inner edge of the tire excessively. Check for xtra wear at these places.
Or; the boot on your CV assy may have leaked it's lube and is running bare metal contact.
Tire pressure check done?
