Price Quote after crash

Alright guys, I could really use some help. I have had so many things go wrong with this vehicle, that it is making think its cursed. First I hit a patch of ice and flip it on its side in the winter. Then last week my transmission went, and now this. Yesterday, I was at my local Six Flags for the day, having great fun. Walking back to my car, I see that there is sand surrounding it. At first thought, I though something went wrong with a seal in my transmission that I had completely replaced the day before. I walk around the other side to see that somebody crashed into my blazer on its driver side. It was completely torn open going along the driver's side. It looks like somebody took a heavy duty knife down the side of the blazer and cut it open in one straight line. I had a minor panic attack because this is the third time something seriously has happened in the past 8 months which I have owned the car. I was hyperventilating until security came whipping around the corner and asked if it was my vehicle. I told them it was and they said that some girl (17 years old) was going 50 mph down the isle, didn't stop at the sign, and crashed into a truck, going over his hood and smashing along my blazer. OMG. He told me that she was taken to the hospital and he got her information. This freak'n sucks man. First thing, I made sure the other girl wasn't seriously injured. She was brought to the hospital because she complained of neck pain. Okay. Then they gave me her information. They told me to bring it to my insurance company on the upcoming monday. The car is driveable, but damaged. I am going to have to def replace the front fender, the front driver door, and the rear driver door. I was wondering, I am impatient to find out how much it is going to cost to fix. I know her insurance will have to cover it, however, how much is it going to cost her insurance company? If I have to replace those things, with original equipment, then have that entire side painted to match the rest of the vehicle, what is it going to cost her? It is a '97, 4 door blazer. I kept it in tip top shape all the time, keeping it clean and perfect. Trust me, I am going to get every penny I deserve. I am glad she is alright, no serious injuries, however she had no right going 50+mph through a six flags parking lot, not only risking her life but also the lives of young children walking through the parking lot. The sercurity guards told me to make her pay for every sratch on my entire car. They are pissed, I am pissed. So, if anybody could give me an estimate on how much I should receive for that much damage, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your time in advance!
Pete

I agree, you need to take it and get several free estimates. You have the right to choose which shop will do the repairs. Make sure you insist on OEM replacement parts. The insurance company is out to make money. If you don't have proof of the actual damages, the insurance company will try to screw you. Most of the time they will write you a check for about 70% of the actual damage and hope they don't hear from you anymore.

Re: Price Quote after crash

I recently went through this.. When you get the quotes, get them all done at different gm dealerships (don't have to be chevy)

Like the guys said. Make sure you get OEM parts if you want to keep you vehicle cherry and don't take a check from the insurance company. There are very often hidden damage that has to be fixed that they don't see from the initial quote.

Check out this site on what to do in a collision and reports on how non-OE parts fit. Ammunition in case the insurance co. gives you a hassle. BE INFORMED!

IMHO what should have taken place right there in the lot was calling the local police and filling out a report. Documenting the incident substantiates the claim scope.

Even if she had already been taken to the hospital, you need protection so there is no argument over what their insurance company will cover....reduces the hassle....and protects you incase of any litigation regarding any permanent injury on her part.

Secondly, inform your insurance company of the issue and you may beable to claim on your compreshensive, to expedite fixing your car...then let the insurance company lawyers fight it out who's gonna pay etc......

Any reputable body shop will provide estimates on the damage for free...

Sorry to hear about your misfortune......hope the girl is ok....

Re: Price Quote after crash

Have the suspension checked out as well.

Chances are if she hit you that hard, something more than a couple of body panels are damaged.

Have the truck THOROUGHLY inspected.
