87 monte carlo 262 project, help.

I just got a 87 monte carlo LS, just a stock 262 motor. I am looking to do a 350 motor swap, nothing too crazy, just want about 280 or so at the wheels, anything more and I'll get myself in serious trouble lol. I was wondering how much this would cost, I can get a brand new 350 for about 1600 with 290 at the crank, but how much would it be, rough estimate, to have a shop do the complete swap for me? Also, would I need to do any transmission changes? Any other recomended upgrades? Like I said, I'm looking for some power, but nothing too crazy.
