new starter, new batt, new cables, still starting prob.(clicks)

i have 86 rebuilt 22re, has anyone heard of the starter not connecting all the way. sometimes if i move the truck and let off the clutch (like to clutch start), the starter will engage and it will fire right up. i have heard the starter spin a sec after the motor starts. are there shims i can install or am i missing something. thanks

Welcome to the AF!

I bet your starter is rebuilt and has old or poorly made contacts. Replace the contacts in the starter solenoid and see if that solves your problem. Cheap fix if it works...
