95 Bonneville SuperCharger Woes
I recently acquired a 95 Bonneville SSEI with 110,000 miles and a slu of problems. The first problem being the Supercharger. It makes a chattering noise which I *think* is the coupler. Further, it appears to be boosting during idle and creating vacuum during acceleration. I'm not sure if this is actually what it's doing because the 3 gauges on the right side of the dash (Boost, Oil Pressure, and Temperature) all fluctuate radically. The car idles rough and if you go past about 50% throttle when driving the engine will die. The car is driveable however.
I'm not sure what runs the 3 gauges on the right, or why they are all faulty at what seems to be the same time. What appears to be the valve for the wastegate on the front of the engine does not seem to be opening and closing at the right times. There is an input and an output for the black valve and pulling the vacuum line on the input or the output will generate and open or closed valve which in turn generates a different noise coming from the supercharger.
The car has a hesitation, and seems to have a rev limiter set at 4000rpm. When I bought the car the guy mubbled something about a computer chip that he messed with, but I didn't catch all of what he said. I don't know if all of these problems are related, or what is causing them. I'm just curious if anyone has any ideas or what the name of this "valve" is on the front of the engine that I can't find a replacement for.
Thank You
