installing stereo in my eclipse

i need tips/help installing my in-dash, the problem is i connected all the wires, but it seems that there isn't enough power... (no amps or anything extra, just in-dash)

i turn volume low and it works fine, when i turn volume up a little, my in-dash turns off and on... i check all the wires, and read manuel... i don't know what to do about it....
any ideas??

Re: installing stereo in my eclipse

What system was in there to begin with?

Are you sure you have a good ground? It may provide low end power but with a crappy ground you wont carry the bigger power draw on the ground side. It will just turn itself off. Is it turning off the whole dash? If so it's drawing to much power

Are they stock speakers? Are you sure they are the right resistance?

it had a pioneer deh-445 supertunner III in the car, I try putting a Innovation dvd/cd/mp3 in there....

but you're right, i figure out it was the ground, cause i didn't see where i'm suppose to connect the ground to... so i connect it to the wrong place, and my radio got burnt...dang... it was working great for a few minutes and than smoke came out.... i turn everything off, and checked the wires, than turn it back on, now it can't find any radio stations, so i try a cd and cds work.... so i don't know what to do now...lol... i still don't see where i'm suppose to connect that ground to...
there goes my hundred bucks, burnt it...

Re: Re: installing stereo in my eclipse

on mine I just piggybacked it to the ground that my cigarette lighter goes too. It's a bolt on the left side of the center console.

If you just purchased it you might try taking it back and showing them that it does work just not on fm.. If thats they case they may replace it if you act dumb. Otherwise just listen to cd's

I forgot to add that if they say you can't take it back try the manufacturer's warantee and if no one can fix it for you open it up and make sure all the capcitors look good. The smoke was either... A capcaitor or a resistor on the board. Both of which are usually able to be resoldered in. Possibly fixing the fm part.
