Exclamation HELP..filling transmission.

I read pervious posts about this issue but I'm not quite sure what to do. I drained the oil before I could get the filler bolt off (17mm) and now I cannot get the filler bolt off for the life of me and I think it managed to strip the bolt a bit so now I need to fill from somewhere else, someone said the reverse switch, but there is some kind of rubber boot on it and I can't seem to get it off...can someone help me!!!

Re: HELP..filling transmission.

the rubber boot covers the wire part of the sensor. if you look down at the base of the sensor, its hex shaped. use a big wrench on it, i think its 19mm.

you are also gonna have to be really careful about filling from there so you dont overfill. the reason the fill plug is where its at is because thats the level that the trans need to be filled at. if you overfill it, the gears are gonna be submerged in oil and its gonna either foam up the oil, or just make the trans run sluggish. i would look up the factory fill amount and only put that much in it.

Re: Re: HELP..filling transmission.

That's a perfect example of why you should remove the fill before the drain.

you can also use the speed sensor hole to fill it, that is what I usualy use. pulling the speed sensor you just need a 10mm socket and it's easy to get to.

Re: HELP..filling transmission.

be careful with the speed sensor. the gear on some of them is made of plastic. you definitely dont want to break the gear off and have it fall into the differential.

Re: HELP..filling transmission.

I'm thinking of doing this on my CRX Si also. Basically I just need to look for the fill nut, undo that, then drain it (what size nut??) and then put 1.9 qts of Syncromesh. Is this correct?

Exactly what I did last summer!
That's the only way I could think of.

The fill plug is a 17mm bolt and the drain is 3/8" square plug.

Re: HELP..filling transmission.

Reverse switch is the fastest way.

What everyone calls the *fill hole* is actually a fill check hole. Fill it till it runs out there, then stop and plug it all back up.
