Switching from 4wd to 2wd
Hi, I am new here...I just recently bought a 2002 Xterra 4x4. Being new to the 4x4 scene as well. I just tried out a little bit of off-roading with the 4x4 engaged (I have auto locking hubs)...but, I didn't back up 7-10 feet when I put it back on 2wd. Is there a way for me to tell if I have disengaged the driveline from the wheels? Because I have backed up the care more than 10 feet in my driveway after I got back...would that take care of disengaging the driveline? Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Switching from 4wd to 2wd
Please post your question just once.
Not much of a way to tell if the hubs have unlocked. There's a faint click, and the steering effort changes slightly. It's really nothing to be concerned about though, driving with the hubs locked won't hurt anything. Brent |

Thanks! Appreciate your getting back to me.
And I apologize for the two postings...wasn't sure if the first one would be read since it was an add on to an old message. Sorry about that! |
