would you get it?

I have the oppotunity to buy an old 73 C-10 pickup for 400 dollars. The guy has over 700 dollars in parts and motor upgrades. it has the original 307 and it has been modified and has around 70000 original miles on the truck. Problem is it has sat for a while and is pretty rusted. Nothing that a lot of hard work could fix but still. the interior would have to be completely redone. it would be a brand new truck in and out by the time id be finished restoring it. I just dont know if its worth me dumping a bunch of money while in college and then if i ever want to sell it get nothing for it. Whats the value of these trucks? It wont be a show truck or anything if i get it but it should be decent. Any advice?

That is not a bad deal I would say you could get $400 out of the engine if you sold that. Also what do you consider pretty rusty? Hole in the body or just lots of surface rust?

Well, It sounds like a piece that needs to be fixed up. So unless you’re willing to put a lot of time and money into it I would not mess with it.

if the motors nice id buy it get another truck and use the motor unless the other ones nice then use one for a bit and build up the other? and you can use parts from one truck and put it on another if the parts are good?

Re: would you get it?

Heck I'd get it just for the engine. Only 400 isn't bad for an entire truck. You can always sell decent parts you don't want and scrap the rest. Then take the engine and put it into a different truck. The 307's rule, well worth 400 in my opinion. I know you're in college, but still, it's a good buy. Just think of it as 400 for the engine, and the rest of the truck is a bonus.
