Turbo Fuel Management Question

So I've been piecing my turbo kit together and basically have it all completed and found out the worse news in the world today. My ECU is a p72 OBD2, so I cant run a standalone unless I convert to OBD1 and thats extra costs I didnt plan. My setup is a 95 GSR with a T3 turbo, planning on running 6-7 Psi of boost. I was gonna go the Hondata route b/c I know its safe and very reliable, but it seems a little bit too much work and pricey now that I dont have a OBD1 ECU. I just want peoples opinion on the VAFC hack if I only run 6-7psi with the 450cc RC injectors that I already have. I plan on getting it tuned right off the bat with my mechanic that is very knowledgable on a dyno with a wideband o2. Now give me your verdict. Do you think that my engine will eventually blow up or should I be ok at the boost setting?

Re: Turbo Fuel Management Question

you can do better than a t3 if you planned on going with a standalone, the $75 obd2-obd1 conversion harness and $150 obd1 p72 should be the least of your concerns, and the least of your problems.

Re: Turbo Fuel Management Question

I dont know where you found those prices, but I sure cant find them anywhere, from what I;ve seen its 200 for obd1 p72 obd1 ecu and 120 for conversion hareness, thats an xtra 320 that I could spend on tunning.

Re: Turbo Fuel Management Question

from my limited readings of vsaf 1 and 2. they are apexi's vvt propritary air/fuel mangment controlers for honda/toyota varitable valve timming engines. they might be compatable with other vvt cars but i dont know. from what i've heard they work the same way as a normal safc but are programed in a way to take into acount the way the ecu, and pcu changes things in your cars. i'm kind of currious now, i think i'll do a little looking today about that.

what are the specs on that t3?
