advantages of wheels that are held with 5 lugs vs. 4 lugs.

yup i know the question seems simple enough. cause while i'm searchin for my 240sx. i found out htat the standard base trim has 4 lugs when the SE and LE uses 5 lugs. is there any real difference? (besides lookin alot cooler, and probrably having a stronger axle.)

ok, one lug? Would someone please explain to me how this works? THe point of lugs is not only to hold the wheels in place, but also to keep them balanced well enough to keep them from wobbling, how would one lug accomplish this?

there is no difference between 4 or 5 lug as far as strength and what not, people upgrade the 240 hubs to the 5 bolt so that you can swap in the front brakes off of a '91 and up 300ZX twinturbo (nice big brakes).

The one lug is what is used on most race cars, just watch a F1 race, they dont play with little lugs, they just use a large one in the center of the wheel.

well

well, there is a bit of a strength difference when you go from a 4 stud to a 5 stud, with the 5 stud being able to handle more lateral forces and not develop stress fractures in as soon a time.
also, it is easier to support more weight with more studs, which is why bigger trucks always run more and more studs.

yeah after i've been payin more attention to it. i see alot of V6 cars and higher end cars with 5 lugs. when i see mostly 4 cylinders or lower end models with 4 lugs. what i'm wonderin is, does it cost more for rims that uses 5 lugs instead of 4?
