Re: Hot Hatch!

That sucks. A friend of mine had the same thing happen to his VR6, but at least it happened in his driveway; unlike the guy in the vid.

Re: Hot Hatch!

Im guessing the turbo overheated, since thats where they are located on 1.8t's. If that was a 4th gen i'd cry but its just a Vdub, plenty more of them to burn.

Re: Hot Hatch!

I kind of know what it's like. I'm so glad that my old engine caught fire from underneath and pretty much stayed within the exhaust... the whole car got smoked out, but the fire remained beneath the car. And the fire department showed up a lot sooner than for this guy.

That really sux to see happen to any one who puts time and money into a car. Not that it matters but If he couldnt put it out, should have closed the doors and hood. Fire would have stayed smaller longer. Hope he had full coverage

You and I must have 2 different definitions about what fast is. I'm not saying that they are slow by any means but I wouldn't say that they are fast; I'd say they are Quick. But in stock form, they are certainly nothing a turbo'd B or built turbo'd D Civic would have to worry about; IMHO.
