F1 #073

I understand the owner of #073 lives in Tampa Florida. Does anyone know how i can get a hold of the owner, it would be really cool to see the car again up close in person and not in a show. Thanks.

Vettster, I'm in the same boat. I'll be doing some work down in Tampa next month and would really like to finally see a McLaren. I'm going to attempt to contact Mr. Wallace as well.

I am currently down in Tampa working, and I have made contact with Mr. Wallace's secretary. The website Peloton gave had a contact form; I used the friends and family form. She called me back the next afternoon, but I missed the call, as I was sleeping (I have an insane work schedule).

She told me that Mr. Wallace is very happy to show off his cars, but his Mclaren is currently in New Jersey getting service done. She confirmed that he still had the questionable 959 and "about 40 other exotic supercars". She rattled off names such as the Noble MC12 and the Bugatti Veyron. I’m kicking myself for not asking if he had a Pagani. I really wanted to visit him, if just to find out some of the various modifications on his F1, but he does seem to be a genuinely nice guy.

The secretary told me that he would be happy to have me over next time I was down here; I have 40+ new reasons to visit my grandmother in Orlando now!

Wow - that's awesome. I really hope you are able to make that happen some day. What an experience that would be.

I don't believe he has a Pagani Zonda. But he might have acquired one since I last heard of his collection. Best of luck, I think if you are ever able to visit, you will have an absolutely fabulous time.

Re: F1 #073

hello ! Excellent ! Can you ask him :
1) if he meets Mansour Ojjeh when he bought this unique chassis ?
2) why he keep Swiss registration ?
3) if Mansour Ojjeh and his brother still have #075 and maybe another ?
4) 691hp, right ?

Thanks !

Phil

Re: F1 #073

My guesses...
1. Doubtful, as the sale was handled through intermediaries.
2. He hasn't kept the actual registration, just the plate. People in the US often display Euro plates...it's considered cool.
3. Don't know.
4. Something in the literature about an upgraded ECU...I forget the bhp figure.

Just to let you all know, I can't go this trip (leaving in 10 minutes actually), I will not be back down here anytime in the next couple of months. If anyone gets a chance to get to Tampa please contact him and let everyone here know about your experience (Vettster)!

I'm on my way to family in Orlando (and an Enzo, F355, and an F40). Never seen those cars either. I hear the Enzo is less ugly in real life. I sure hope so.

I'll be in San Jose on Monday; too bad I'll be stuck in a hotel and won't be able to go Mac hunting. Isn't the California figure around 7?

Are you sure she said Bugatti Veyron? That car isn't out yet, Fall 2005 is the earliest it will be released. Noble MC12 doesn't exist, but maybe you mixed up Maserati MC12 and Noble M12. Did she say Maserati MC12? Very rare car (50 total will be produced).

Apologies, I screwed up the name. She said a Noble M12, and she definitely said he had a Bugatti Veyron. How true that is I don't know, but she did seem to know what she was talking about. Perhaps she meant on order? I'll find out when I get a chance to get back down here.

Man, that's a bummer. I wish you luck next time. I guess I now have hope to see a McLaren in my lifetime. I used to live in Florida a few years back, and I am going down there in late July for a visit to see old friends, one of whom happens to live in Tampa. I think this will be my chance to see a McLaren F1, hopefully. Did the secretary say when the McLaren might be back? And could you let me know what kind of message you wrote to them on the form? Whatever you wrote must have worked well, and I would like the same kind of response from them

She said nothing of when it would be back, except not this week. At least she didn't say month.

I basically wrote that I was obsessed with Mclarens, never have seen one, and told them who I am. I also told them about a scholarship organization I am involved in that is relatively exclusive, but I think all you need to do is identify yourself, display educated interest in the cars, and be polite. Spell checking never hurts.
